This is the Basket Weave Cardigan Knitting Pattern, suitable for intermediate knitters. The pattern uses the ‘basket weave’ technique which consists of knits and purls. The sweater has a folded ribbed collar and a drop-shoulder. The sweater has a 5-15 centimetre positive ease, meaning the bust of the sweater is 5-15 centimetres bigger than the bust of the person wearing it. This sweater can be made for any gender in sizes XS through 5XL.
Description
Materials needed for the Basket Weave Cardigan
- 10 (11) 12 (13) 14 (15) 15 (16) 17 balls of Hobbii Friends Wool or a yarn with the same gauge
- 6 buttons of about 2.5 centimetres in diameter
- 4.5mm and 3.5mm circular needles in 60/80/100 cm depending on how big a size you’re making.
- 4.5mm and 3.5mm circular needles in 20-30cm, or 4.5mm and 3.5mm dpn’s, OR use the longer needles with magic loop method
- Scissors
- A tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Scrap yarn or stitch holder of some sorts
Gauge
10×10 centimetre swatch = 17 stitches, 27 rows
This gauge swatch is done in basket weave stitch.
